Introducation

Since the 90's the Web search engine still provide the same kind of results: Links to documents. So we think it’s time to rethink about the result contents. A lot of times we need summary, structured information, list of things, or direct answer. Also how we view the links it’s another issue.

We in Kngine aims to build the next generation of Web search engine by three main technologies:

  • Live Objects and Semantic Search.
  • Question Answer Engine.
  • Snippet Search.
Live Objects mainly responsible to understand the keyword (i.e. concept) and provides structured and meaningful information, such as: summary, information, specification, map, etc; also Live Object link the different kind of information together such as: City information with the annual weather information. Question Answer Engine component responsible to answer the users questions and provide direct answer for a lot of questions.

Today Kngine can answer many complex queries such as: Top countries by electricity production, Venera missions, Winston Churchill books, How many people live in Cairo, etc. But what about the complex queries, and the abstract questions such as: 'Who is the responsible about Iraq War ?', 'How to speak arabic?'


Snippet search

In September 2009 we start work in different kind of indexing technique that aim to provides more relevant results in short-term, and answer the abstract questions in long-term. In general Snippet Search working to provides collection of rich ranked paragraphs rather than collection of documents links.

What do you mean by ranked paragraphs?

Today, if we searched in you Google, Bing, or Yahoo the result description that appear below the result title is not useful and it's not related to what we looking for, even if it's related it's not completed, which lead you to open many results and search about what we looking for. But Snippet Search results will content of collection of rich paragraphs that content what you looking, so we will be able to get what he looking for directly without open other pages.
